New Venue for 19 August

We got fucked out of our previous space that we held for all of a month. The turnout was great, the management sucked, and they basically booted us out for some crap hip hop night. Whatever...they are a bunch of assholes and we don't need them.

So, having said that, we have a new, albeit, temporary home for August. Details as follows:

NO COVER (so you have no excuses whatsoever)
DRINK SPECIALS: $2.50 PBR DRAFTS, $5 APPLE MARTINIS, plus loads of other stuff at "better than you were paying before" prices

The night is in trouble. We want to keep it in Hartford. We may take it to New Haven. We may end it. So, if you can, please come out, show your support, and help us keep this thing going. We're determined to make it work in this town.

Shag Frenzy - reissued, recycled, and repackaged...

From Sir Johnny Strangler:
Some of you know may have already read it on Scary Bunnies...
This Saturday night, 1 July, is our final night at The Webster Underground. So please, if you can, support us at the lasy hurrah in the original location. We're going to have a blast, and I plan on playing Haddaway's "What Is Love" in order to be Roxbury'ed by lovely ladies as I was last night. Maybe even another slow dance number full of those old awkward high school slow tempos we loved so well.
9PM sharp...we want the dancefloor moving all night long. So do it.
The Protokoll show was amazing!!! Such a great band, and totally deserving of all the buzz.
More pictures at Shag Frenzy

The new location is as follows:
We're taking over the old Troutbrook Brewhouse/Spaghetti Warehouse in the nice Parkville section in the west end of Hartford, near Real Art Ways, Wood N Tap, etc. The night will be called Shag Frenzy at Factory, as the club will be called Factory when we are there. We're teaming up with 2 other djs, Markie Gee & Brut Zero, who will be spinning anything from old industrial to electro to Detroit/Chicago acid. Sara and I will be doing our usual sets, just like normal. We have 2 dancefloors, 4 deejays, and 4 drink specials. Yes, we have specials! They are:
$2 PBR cans
$3 Jager shots
$4 Red Bull & Vodkas
$5 Apple Martinis
The first Shag Frenzy at Factory is 15 July at 9pm. It's 21+ from now on, with the same cover of $5. There is free parking in our spacious lot, so no worries about gangwars and broken glass anymore. Please spread the word...flyers printed as we speak so we'll have nice glossy color ones at the ready.
>>>To all the French Kicks fans out there...we may have them playing the pop music on our stage on 7 October, if all goes as planned. Details soon. Trying to figure out what they need as far as cash and how cheap I can keep the tickets. Ideally, we would like to keep it at $5, but it may be $7 or something. Not too big a deal.
new address/info below:

In a few days...Shag Frenzy w/ Protokoll

Saturday, 17 June, 2006!!! This weekend!!!

Shag Frenzy w/ Protokoll (from Allston, MA)
The Webster Underground
31 Webster Street

This weekend, we have a band playing with us from Allston, MA, called Protokoll. You can hear some stuff here. So yeah, we got this band travelling and we need to play them some dough. Again, support is needed and appreciated. Bring friends, bring yourself, be seen with the mighty and keen.

Doors at 9PM...come in and drink a couple before the band plays. There will be drink specials, we're just unsure of what they are right now. But, rest assured, we will have specials. The Webster is being cool and working with us to make your drinking experience a fantastic one. We'll have the new Futureheads album News & Tributes playing in the background (more info here. We'll have some Futureheads giveaways as well, including promos of the new album, some cd singles, and some 45's on black wax!

Band at independent music, support Protokoll. These guys are talented and you can move and sway to them just like if you were seeing The Cure or Depeche Mode. Yeah, they're that good. Make their first time in Hartford a special one.

Deejays at 11PM...after the boozing and live music, it's time to dance. Sara and I will be playing the beats that keep ya neat. Plus, we'll be giving away Nine Inch Nails/Bauhaus/TV On The Radio (coming 20 June to NE Dodge Music Center, formerly Meadows, yadda yadda) tickets to some lucky patrons, courtesy of WCCC. Also got some Belle & Sebastian, Serena-Maneesh, Peaches, and Mogwai promo cds to give away as well. You can come out of here a winner!!! So don't be a loser!

And, please, vote for Sara (Garage Flower) on the Hartford Advocate's Grand Band Slam poll. In the DJ category, naturally.

The Reflex – Move Your Feet to the Retro Beats

Mark your calendars for May 10th!! Have you done it yet? I’ll wait… The Reflex starts on that date, and you don’t want to miss it.

The Reflex is no longer a lonely child, it is a Retro Dance Party at Sweet Janes on 88 Pratt Street. Sweet Janes is Hartford's newest nightspot, with a rock and roll twist, and we are taking it over every Wednesday night, from 9pm til close.

The Shag Frenzy duo is taking you back in time, and left of the dial, spinning our favorite retro tunes. From Glam to Punk, New Wave to Disco, The Reflex is a treasure in the dark.
